You may know Priyanka from her starring role in Quantico, her whirlwind romance (and marriage) with Nick Jonas, or her fabulous red carpet style. But, there are also many things you probably don’t know about the actress. Known as one of the industry’s most prolific actresses, with her always on-point style, spectacular acting skills and incredible singing talent, there’s no doubt why Priyanka Chopra is one of our favorites.
Priyanka began her career in the spotlight at 18 years old when she competed in the Miss World pageant. She was crowned in 2000 the fifth Miss India to do so and has been mesmerizing the world with her enchanting aura ever since. Chopra is one of India’s highest-paid actresses and has received numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards and five Filmfare Awards.
As one of India’s biggest movie stars, Chopra was extremely famous well before her Hollywood days. Her starring role on Quantico made her the first Indian-born actress to lead an American prime-time network show in television history. Previously she acted in over 60 Bollywood films. And she has starred in several Bollywood films, and she is best known to American audiences for her role on ABC’s Quantico, becoming the first South Asian actress to lead an American series.

The star revealed in an interview that it was Nick who sent the first message, following a text sent to her Quantico costar Graham Rogers simply stating: “Priyanka. Is. Wow.” The relationship quickly blossomed to Twitter direct messages, with the lovestruck singer messaging: “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet.” The rest, as they say, is history.

Since they engagement, the duo has been hogging the limelight. Needless to say, the social media is flood with the loved-up images of the two. Given her global popularity, Priyanka lately saw a boost in her fan-following on Instagram. With 27 million followers (and counting) on the photo-sharing app, Priyanka dethroned Deepika Padukone to crown herself as the most followed Bollywood actress on Instagram.
She Went to an Army School
The Baywatch star, whose parents were both physicians in the Indian army, completed a portion of her high-school education at the Army Public School in Bareilly, a school that established itself for educating the children of Indian armed forces personnel. Speaking about her experience, Chopra describes the school as “awesome, actually,” adding that it really taught her the value of discipline.
She Has Something in Common With Marilyn Monroe!
In 2010, Chopra became the first Indian movie star in 70 years to cast her foot impression at Italy’s Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence. Priyanka Chopra’s shoes are display alongside those of artists like Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Madonna, who have their foot prints at the fashion museum dedicated to the life and work of the Italian shoe designer. Although Chopra is the first Bollywood beauty to grace the Ferragamo museum, she is the second Indian celebrity after the Maharani of Cooch Behar, Indira Devi, received the same honor in 1938.
